MY STORY

I was raised in the 80’s on Hip Hop and breaking. The same boyz in the hood in the front yard raking.

Mahdi Asim was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois into a community of families. He is an analyst by day and a writer by night.

Mahdi was introduced to poetry as a child through nursery rhymes, music, and through the works of his mother, who is a writer. He credits his mother as being the biggest inspiration for his writing though he is inspired by all walks of life. In his earlier years, he would only write during school until poetry eventually became an outlet of healing for him.

While speaking with a friend, he was encouraged to release his first book, "Pillars" as a chapbook after being told that his work  may allow his audience to gain a different perspective in written form. He feels that all of his readers will get something different from his words but everyone will get something worthwhile.

With all the work he has done throughout the years leading up to his latest release, the legend grows...
